Today is International Women's Day. A day where we celebrate all women. A day to recognize the incredible power women have. A day to acknowledge and uplift the women we know and love. On this day all about honoring women, we asked our founder a few questions on the topic of women, strength and what it all means to her as a female entrepreneur. Read below on what Sarah had to say:
When you think about International Women's Day, what comes to mind?
Power. Grace. Warmth. Women supporting other women. A chance to focus on the positive impact we can all have and the knowledge that as one woman we can certainly achieve great things but as a whole group of women what we can achieve becomes limitless.
What do you love most about being a woman?
Of course I love the girly things like getting dressed up for an event, manicures & pedicures, chatting with my girlfriends and being a hopeless romantic but what I love most is that being a woman is what gave me the gift of bringing my daughter into this world. I absolutely adore being my daughter's mother.
When have you felt your strongest?
The day I opened Core Revolution. At 35 weeks pregnant, my body physically may not have been it's strongest and certainly was not it's most sculpted, but the day of our opening party, I truly felt powerful. I was finally reaching a goal that I had been setting my sights on for some time. I was a month away from giving birth to my first baby, a dream come true for me. I was surrounded by my support system of family and friends who raise me up. I was proud of myself for what I was accomplishing. I felt fierce.
Who is your role model?
My biggest role model is my mom. She has strength in every sense of the word. She is resilient, devoted, honest, brilliant and loving. She is the most generous person I've ever met. Giving of her time, her wisdom, her talents, to all who cross her path. She is a true inspiration. She is my mentor and my best friend. As a new mom myself, I have an even deeper appreciation for all she does and how effortless it all seems. I continue to learn from her each and every day. I am so proud to be my mother's daughter.
What do you love most about owning your own business?
The people I get to work with each day - my team members that I've selected to go on this journey with me who have become a family.
The growth I get to see in my studio, my clients and my team.
The ability to make decisions that benefit my community.
The power to employ, empower and support other women & moms.
The freedom to be creative.
The chance to show my daughter what I created and for her to grow up knowing that she too can make her dreams a reality.
The knowledge that by achieving my goal, I am helping other people reach their own goals.
Having a place where I see my vision and my mission coming to life as others join and embrace it.
What is the best advice you've received when starting your own business?
I have a lot of wonderful, intelligent, and wise people in my life who have provided me with influential advice over the years but when I think about opening the studio, a few pieces of advice come to mind right away. 'There's no such thing as perfect timing.' 'Stay true to what you believe.' 'Follow your heart.' 'Lean in and let others help you.'
What advice would you give to a young woman with the goal of having her own business?
Give careful thought and attention to your dream. Do your research. Reach out to others to hear their stories and truly listen to them. Be prepared for the impact it will have on all the areas of your life. Pursue your passion. Believe in yourself.
What is a quote that speaks to you today?
"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." -Mother Theresa
